Throughout 2024, Head of Sector - Building Products & Construction, Mark Goldsmith, and our team successfully worked with several manufacturers within the HVAC industry in the UK.

In providing you with a broad selection of functions headhunted, the below is the intelligence gathered throughout the process of approaching people for specific roles. Figures only include basic salaries.

Aftersales Director

Partly driven by the governments Carbon Zero targets, and the reoccurring revenue that would be yielded from maintenance programmes, the UK arm of this international leader required a newly created Aftersales Director. I targeted directors within allied markets to HVAC, with strong links to aftersales maintenance contracts within commercial markets. Most resided within larger corporate manufacturers. This was a regionalised search, taking in the Midlands and Northern Homes Counties. More context in this case study.

Head of European Sales

This medium sized manufacturer of air quality products, selling into both domestic and commercial markets, sought a leader who could instigate and grow revenues and teams throughout mainland Europe. Primarily targeted small to medium sized organisations within the wider HVAC market, I focused on leaders who had experience of setting up sales strategies, whilst leading small sales teams. This search excluded larger, Sales Director level candidates.

Managing Director

This multi-billion-dollar turnover manufacturer within the arena projected sales growth to double inside the next 10 years. The UK had not recruited an external leader for 20 years, with this person leading over 400 staff. Headline considerations to the brief taken were location (southern England), strong appreciation for driving growth for a sustainable building product, and advancements in innovation. This took in a broader talent pool, with the majority working for larger corporations. Primarily, Commercial Directors and Sales Directors were targeted. Review the case study here.

General Manager

Having acquired this manufacturer within ventilation manufacturing two years previously, the group board required an allrounder to manage this remote workforce of c.50 heads. They would take ultimate responsibility for commercial / contract management for both trade and social housing clients, and leadership of a production team (I recruited an Operations Director at group level six months previously, who took technical control). Commercial Directors and service-led Operations Directors, with exposure to managing both aforementioned markets were my primary target. They mostly worked for sub £100m manufacturers.
