The Position and It's Challenges
The overall objective of this recruit is to push the organisation back to the leader in this sector of healthcare for innovation. There is a strong desire for transformation throughout the organisation and this role would drive their digital transformation agenda. It is important that the new Director of Digital can set the vision and strategy and implement the various programmes to support and enhance the business plan.
The individual should be very comfortable operating within an Executive Leadership Team and able to represent the digital function. They will need to be a commercially savvy leader that is able to equate value from the outcomes of any digital spend and see a contribution to the business plan. They need to align well to the values of the organisation and share its strong purpose. Being able to inspire, motivate and lead the digital team through this period of change is also very important.
The Solution and Result
The briefing process was exceptional. The company invested a lot of time in briefing us, but more importantly we were given access to four stakeholders and were able to learn about the role and challenges from four different perspectives. They were all very honest about the challenges, their individual visions for digital function in the future and what they felt was important for this hire to be successful. This gave us a complete 360-degree view of the role making the interviewing and selection process much more effective and efficient.
At the end of the process we agreed that we would research and identify similar organisations that operated in healthcare and shared a similar ethos. From there we shaped the target list of companies to a strong list of fifty. From the target list we identified those that held similar roles. We devised a marketing and communication strategy and started the first phase of communication. The response rate was very strong and initial phone calls were scheduled. Each candidate was then sent a copy of the information pack that was created for the role. We shared our initial findings with the Client through our client portal and confirmed that the candidates we were currently engaged with were on paper a good match.
A long list of ten Candidates was presented to the Client and it was agreed that all would be interviewed. The Client moved forwards with their first round of interviews and three candidates were chosen for final interview with the CEO. One of these candidates was offered the position and a signed contract of employment was returned two days later.
The Client was delighted with the outcome as they now have the right person who will drive the strategy and delivery of their digital agenda. The Candidate they chose is high energy and a real doer with a track record of delivering projects. They were also grateful for having a range of Candidate profiles and personalities to choose from. This helped them hone in on what was really important for them. The Candidate was excited and keen to get on board to kick start the digital journey.
